Hostess Goodie Basket

This weeks tip for organization…oh yes, look!
It’s a basket! Don’t you just love baskets!
This isn’t really an antique pedestal basket but
it is a pretty good knock-off isn’t it :) !
What a great home for those little projects that I’ve completed for my hostesses, or last minute gifts for teachers, friends…I do hope, like me, when you’ve got a few minutes to work, you’re making little gift items like these because you never know when someone is going to need a smile or a get-well thought or a Bon-voyage journal to take on a special vacation or weekend. You always want to have some on hand. If you’ll look closely in the basket you’ll see easy cute projects that go together quickly and are sure to bring a smile to anybody’s face. And what better way to spread cheer….besides, everybody looks better dressed with a S-M-I-L-E!!
A pretty basket looks great in any room and never goes out of style! I’ll bet you’ve got one you can use right now…just go look!

BOO!

Considering that I usually ‘freak out’ when a spider is within 10 feet of me, I was delighted to muster the courage to put this ‘creepy’ thing on my goodie jar! But, isn’t he darling? He’s going to be sitting on the reception desk in my hubby’s office and when patients bring in their kiddo’s they can grab a treat between now and the end of October. (Only catch is…they can’t eat it before they see the doctor!) I was concerned about the sheer volume of candy this jar can hold but when I found the individually wrapped Brach’s candy corn…my dilema was solved…one bag fills up the jar. Now I’m sure I’ll need to keep re-fills on hand, but that’s better than the ‘umpteen’ pounds of loose candy corn it would’ve taken to fill him up.

In case you’re wondering, this attractive arachnid will be available with the release of the De’cor Elements Phase 2, that’s coming out very soon; so keep a watchful eye for that release. There will be so much more available in the beautiful De’cor Elements Phase 2; more colors, more patterns, it’s an exciting expansion of this exclusive product line and I’m sure you’ll want to check it out.

Post-It-Note Coaster Holder

I saw these darling post-it-note holders for your purse or backpack and having a “secret stash” of coasters I just had to try them out. It also gave me a chance to use up some scraps of Designer Series Paper and I’m definitely making more of them! I’ve already given out some and everyone just loves them! It also gave me a chance to try-out one of the newest additions to my scrap room…the Zutter Bind-It-All and it worked just like I’d seen it in several on-line videos. Simple, quick and altogether GREAT! I’ve added this to my Hostess Basket for hostess thank-you gifts.

Organization tips from my Scraproom

I was perusing some downtown Waco shops the other day and found these great French wire baskets that were just calling my name!! Since my last order arrived, with lots of the new ribbon, I had sadly out-grown my Stampin’ UP! Ribbon keepers…and you can never have enough ribbon . . . right?!? Well these baskets aren’t really designed to “nest” like I’m using them, but they work just fine for me! Sometimes it helps to think ‘outside’ the box.
I’ve had dowels through the ribbon spools, which I really didn’t use long, because everytime I wanted ribbon I either had to unload every other one to get the one I wanted (in order to take it with me to a workshop) or it started the whole lot of them spinning…and ribbon went everywhere! Whew…these might work for you but it’s way too much work for me! The Stampin’ UP! Ribbon keepers were really versatile in their three sizes and proved to be very useful until I out-grew them, …what to do? I’m not in a down-sizing mood just now and I r-e-a-l-l-y like the looks of these baskets anyway! So there you go! This weeks’ tip for organizing your scrap room or closet or corner or wherever it is you get to have your “stash”…baskets are a great way to tame the ribbon, look great doing it and still allow ease of access and visibility…remember “out-of-sight… out-of-mind” I need to SEE what I’ve got when I’m trying to figure out what to use and opening endless stacks of storage containers, drawers, or cabinet/closet doors, can not only be real creative killers…they can make your projects too much effort!
Thanks for stopping by!

Because You Asked…

BYA…last Thursday was our youngest son, Colin’s (nearly 17 y.o.) FIRST 6-man football game. And of course, feeling the ‘pressure’ because everyone looks to him for his enthusiasim, athleticisim, and sheer guts and determination, he delivered the first touchdown!! Well, I never in my wildest dreams ever thought I’d be a “sports mom”, but here I am, sitting on the sidelines, cheering my son. Biting my nails with each play…and in case you didn’t know it, 6 man football is something ELSE! Many of the players play both sides (aka defense + offense), and it’s mostly about running and hitting other people. The team only incurred two rather minor injuries, and yes, Colin was one of them, we just got back from the Sports Medicine physician because his knee is still swelling daily and very tender, but with ice, Aleeve, caution, and time, it should be fine…IF he can keep from re-injuring it any time soon.
Tomorrow night is our second game in Crowley TX…so we’ll see. (Oh yeah, we won 35 – 26)
When Coach Barker was handing out jersey’s I just had to laugh. A lot of the guys were fighting over numbers from famous NFL players but Colin walked over and grabbed number 1…because he said…I’m going to make my own number famous! That’s my Colin!!
