I just love it when April arrives because I know the Bluebonnets are a comin’! And this is a particularly good year for them at our ranch in Valley Mills…hence the name “My Bluebonnet Cottage”.
Their fragrance is overpowering in some areas they are so thick and plentiful. All along the roadways in Texas you see people taking their annual “Bluebonnet Pictures”, although I confess, I don’t have any recollection that we ever did that with our boys when they were little. Don’t ask me why, I just don’t know why we never did those pictures. (Probably because EVERYBODY did, and being somewhat of a rebel at heart well, there you go!)
Then too, it is a sure sign that Spring is REALLY here! Although, short lived as it is here in the central Texas area we do enjoy the pleasant weather and temperatures however long they last!
Spring always reminds me of my mother and the many times we would drive down country lanes in Illinois scouring them for wild flowers to pick and bring home to grace her kitchen table. She loved flowers so, and I guess that’s part of my inheritance from her, a love of beautiful flowers.
I hope this spring weekend brings you quiet moments of pleasure and relaxation aside from the busyness of life.
I’m taking my blanket and going to have a lovely cat nap at “My Bluebonnet Cottage” in honor of it’s namesake! Katherine
