A Rose by any other name…

One of my favorite stamp sets to play with has been the Stampin’ UP!’s Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set.  I love the abundant possibilities it has for multiple dimensions, making your projects more interesting and eye appealing.

Here’s an example from a fellow Stampin’ UP! demonstrator:

Using silver embossing on  Stampin’ UP! Pretty in Pink card stock on multiple images of the large rose stamp gives a dramatic effect when cut apart and assembled into layers using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The lovely centerpiece sits on a Stampin’ UP! Whisper White Sizzix Big Shot exclusive Top Note die with a Brushed Silver card stock Top Note layered underneath for a matching border.  For a finishing touch the Top Note is tied with a Stampin’ UP! Pink Satin 5/8″ square knot.

What a lovely card that’s appropriate for a  Birthday,  Mother’s Day, or a beautiful wedding greeting!

Blue Dog & Friends

Some people believe you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. . .well I am here to tell you that YES you can!

I recently enjoyed playing with Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio and learned a thing or two…or three!

Instead of using one of the Designer Templates, I created this whimsical card from scratch.  Adding background papers, coloring stamps, and characterizing the animal stamps from the  Good Friend Stamp Set template by adding, eyes, a nose, and tongues to the dogs and from the Cheep Talk Stamp Set a red bird with a black wing.   I also created the cloud using a three squished heart punch images and turning them this way and that.  I even added a double stamped image to the fire hydrant for added visual effect.

I love Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio for it’s  simplicity and ease of understanding.  Believe me,  I am not a person that you would consider ‘computer savvy’, and yes, even I can do this!  But all the credit goes to Stampin’ UP! and this wonderful product in My Digital Studio.

I’m currently training to earn my certification for Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio so that I will be better equipped to help my customers with their digitally created projects.

If you haven’t yet considered purchasing Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio, remember Mother’s Day is just around the corner. All you have to do is ask your hubby to email me your order at kpritchard@hot.rr.com, or he can order it himself by following the online link at www.katherinepritchard.stampinup.net, just be sure to select me as your demonstrator to get the ‘preferred pricing’.  At just $79.95 Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio is a GREAT buy and sure to take your creativity to another level of enjoyment!

Have a wonderful day!

Buttons, Birthday’s & Bingo!

A while back I saw a package of  pretty pricey stickers for a birthday card and thought to myself…”I could make that!”  So I did!!

I love borrowing ideas to create unique gifts and cards from what I have on hand. . .it makes me feel so thrifty!

I re-created the bingo card using a ‘table’ in WORD and printed it out on our Stampin’ UP! Whisper White card stock in several sizes until I had just the right one.  I then added bits of scrap paper Designer Series Paper for the birthday candles; odds n’ ends of buttons, and actually used the Poinsettia stamp from the Stampin’ UP! Season of Joy stamp set for the flames!

I finished the card with two strips of scalloped edging  in So Saffron & Bashful Blue using the Scallop  Punch and the all new Scallop Trim Punch from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.

I am ‘pleased as punch’  at how it all came together and hope you are too!

We’re enjoying the wonderful Spring weather as we get ready for Easter this weekend and wish you a Blessed holiday too!!

Welcome Finnian!

My niece and her sweet hubby had a wonderful special delivery a couple of weeks ago, in the form of a beautiful son, they named Finnian!  What an awesome day for them!  Erin and Eric have been so blessed and now multiplied by this wonderful miracle.  Their four year old Guatemalan born older son, Vincent was so excited.  (I remember when I brought home our son, Addison, our adopted son Brandon (then almost two) kept asking when we were going to take him back to the hospital!  :)   And so an ‘only’ child becomes the ‘older’ child as the family bonds expand further.

The Bundle of Joy Stamp Set has always been one of my favorite sets and I do enjoy the opportunity to bring it out and use it again.

I thought the spots and  spiked mane on the giraffe would go nicely with the retired designer series paper in my scrap bin.

Mounted on a Brilliant Blue standard size card and using Only Orange 1/4″ grosgrain ribbon over the middle seam.  This is a tried and true card recipe that you can use again and again with all sorts of stamp sets and paper in your stash!  For a little extra ‘pop’ I added Crystal Effects to the Brilliant Blue on the giraffe.  The ‘hello baby’ is from the new Teeny Tiny Verses Stamp Set.

It’s a good idea to have several of these basic card layout recipes in your repertoire to turn to when you need a quick card.

I hope you’re having a wonderful week as March is on the wane and April is growing near!

Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine’s Fold-Out Card

Once I finally packed away our son Colin’s BSA memories, I  was able to turn my attention to other pressing deadlines…like say, VALENTINE’S DAY!

I’d seen an accordion card a while back and decided that it’d work really great for Valentine’s Day for Colin and our son Brandon to give their sweethearts!

Just a little surprise from me!  I think they turned out pretty cute and the girls sure seemed to enjoy them, so I guess that was a hit!

Front when tied with Whisper White Taffeta  Ribbon

From a single sheet of 12 x 12 card stock cut three, four inch strips and stick together overlapping one panel on each strip.  You end up with a total of ten panels to decorate.  Cut eight pieces of coordinating Designer Series Paper for the background of the center eight panels.

Using the Stampin’ UP! Big Shot I die cut the letters and used a variety of our wonderful Stampin’ UP! punches and brads  for embellishments.  Add a touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter for extra sparkle!  The fabulous thing about using the Stampin’ UP! Big Shot is that all of the embellishments were created using SCRAPS!!  I love, love, LOVE it!  It’s easy peasy and so smart to have as a resource.

For the final touch I added two pictures of the Sweethearts and my special Valentine’s Day treat for these sweet gals was complete!

This project lends itself to a wide array of possibilities and events to celebrate.    Other suggestions you could  spell out are    C-O-N-G-R-A-T-S-!, B-A-B-Y,      L-O-V-E – U,    Y-O-U  D-I-D  I-T-!,       T-H-A-N-K-F-U-L.

The pictures were printed on my HP psc 2510 Photosmart and a couple were printed as 3 x 5 and then trimmed, others were printed as a wallet size.  To save additional space since this is a very small pallet that you’re creating on instead of matting your pic’s use a dab of Whisper White Craft Ink to edge your pictures ever so slightly.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your creativity takes you to new levels of fun!

Have a blessed week!    Katherine
