Stampin’ UP! Toile

Like Toile?  Wish you could use it in some of your paper crafting projects?  Here’s a little twist and ‘Toile”  influence from Stampin’ UP!

I just love the compliment of  Stampin’ UP! Real Red, Whisper White, and Basic Black together.  Classic perfection with unending appeal and always appropriate for any occasion.

An imaginative use of the Stampin’ UP! Decorative Label Punch combined with other great Stampin’ UP! punches is a fun way to set your text apart.

There’s nothing quite as pretty as a bright,,, puffy. . . BOW!   With this quick and easy technique  you don’t even need to be  great at bow tying!   Let the Rhinestone Brad do the job for you, and simply adhere it with a glue dot to secure it in place.

When I first laid eyes on the So Shelly! exclusive designed Stampin’ UP! Elements of Style Stamp Set I knew I had to add it to my collection. This beautifully designed five piece stamp collection is sure to be around for many years.  The focal point of the set is a large over-sized line drawing of Dogwood and Open Rose influenced floral branch. The images in this fabulous set are unapologetically feminine.  There are a multitude of techniques to color in the large blooming branch image, but here it is left in striking detail on the smooth Whisper White card stock stamped with the crisp boldness of the Stampin’ UP! Classic Basic Black Ink.

Celebrating Babies with Stampin’ UP!

Pressed for time? Nothing beats the clock like a Hybrid card created with Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio!

It’s so easy to create cards using Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio suite and once you have printed your project you can add those little extra touches like the bright green ribbon on this Baby Shower Invitation that give your creation a personal touch.

Stamp Set used is the  Nursery Necessities Digital Stamp Set.

With My Digital Studio you can still use all those beautiful colors that have been retired, like the Brocade Blue I chose for the background here.  It makes a perfect team with the Green Galore, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  Traditionally designers say that it is important to use three colors on a project, but I have found that sometimes you can get away with more…especially if it is an odd number!  They really work together well on this project and without the addition of the Daffodil Delight and the Green Galore the project didn’t have that ‘pop’ that I always try to achieve!

The thousands of stamped images in My Digital Studio suite allow you to customize the size, color, and even change direction of the images.  Once I had the template created, I grouped all the elements together, allowing me to copy the entire project, and paste it twice on a blank landscape multi-output document.  This allowed me to print it out two to a page on my favorite Glossy Cardstock!  Cut it out, adhere the ribbon, and adhere it to a standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Daffodil Delight card. It’s actually quite a simple process, and when you are pressed for time yet still want to have that unique one-of-a-kind creation, it’s the perfect solution!

The inside details were stamped and completed with the where, when, and other details before sending them on their way!

I hope you find time to create something this week!  Thanks for stopping by!

Ruffled, Rugged, Old Car by Stampin’ UP!

There’s  something comforting about spotting a really old car.  Whenever we’re out driving along the country byways, if someone spots one,  they will almost always yell out…”Hey! Look at that old car”!  It might be sitting up on blocks, or just being used as a planter box…whatever the case, it generally brings a smile to the face of the beholder.

That’s the sort of feeling I hope you get from this card:

The old truck image is from the Countryside Stamp Set,  on page 115 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog.  It’s a beautiful,  five stamp set of pen and ink drawings that Stampin’ UP! does so well and there are a myriad of  techniques you can use to color them in.

The technique I’ve selected for this particular card is a water color application using the Stampin’ UP! Blender Pen with Classic Ink Refills.  Colors used were Baja Breeze, Old Olive, Daffodil Yellow, and Rose Red.  You may or may not realize this but the Stampin’ UP! Classic Ink in Basic Black is waterproof!  That makes it so easy to color in no matter what technique your using.

Of course Stampin’ UP! does all the hard work for you, so it’s easy to coordinate your embellishments.  Here I’ve used the Baja Breeze 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon for a sweet ruffled element along with a Baja Breeze Big Designer Button tied with a tiny Daffodil Yellow 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon bow.  The seam binding is easy to scrunch by grabbing a couple of threads in the middle and scrunching.   I usually cut a length 2 1/2 times the length I need for the finished element and this has worked very well for my projects.

The central panel is a piece of the exclusive Specialty Designer Series Paper First Edition available until April 30th in the current Stampin’ UP! Occasions Mini Catalog.  Other elements used are the Stampin’ UP! Thanks for Caring Stamp Set, pg. 13, 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog; and the Modern Label Punch, pg. 203, 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog.

I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by and checking things out!  Here’s hoping you have a fantastic week and that God will shower you with His sweet Grace!

Stampin’ UP! Froggy Princess Party!

One of the all time great Stampin’ UP! stamp sets that is still often requested today on eBay is Stampin’ UP!’s Unfrogrettable Stamp Set from the 2006 Occasion’s Mini Catalog. Last week, at my monthly Stamp Club,  one of the gals said she needed some ideas in coming up with a birthday party invitation for her lovely little 4 year old Bella.  When she mentioned that the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog is her favorite movie, I knew immediately what we needed to use on her invitations.  She’s having a Fairytale Princess Party so I thought this layout would be perfect.

I had seen this invitation quite a while ago, and remembered how cute it was.  We had a great time putting it together today and  she put her labels on the envelopes and dropped them off at the post office this evening!

All 25 of them!  We were quite pleased with how they turned out, I hope you think so too.  Invitations/cards like these are quite labor intensive, because of all the layers and embellishments, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for just anybody, but if you saw how cute little Bella is you’d have done them too!

Hope you’re having a great week, it’s hard to believe March is here already…and that Spring Break is next week for most kiddo’s around here!

Distressed Heart Tutorial

Here is a quick tutorial on how to create the Distressed Heart used in the Valentine’s Day post:

I keep an old empty Stampin’ Mist bottle filled and marked with water so it’s always at hand.  This technique works great with several other of your great Stampin’ UP! punches so be sure to have some fun and try a variety of them.  (My Large Heart Punch has not yet been updated with our new style punches introduced recently, but I’m getting there! :)

Don’t skimp with the water, and be sure to spritz BOTH sides of your card stock.  (Note to those of you who are tempted to use just any ‘ol card stock…it might just fall apart on you!  I’ve had consistent success with the weight and quality of Stampin’ UP! card stock, but I can’t say the same with other product lines!)

Crumple, crumple, crumple…YES YOU  CAN!

After you’ve sufficiently crumpled your card stock into a ‘wad’…gently, pull it open and flatten it to dry.  Drying time is lightening fast when you use your Embossing Heat Tool!  Just remember to use your tweezers or some other long object to hold it to the mat or you’ll be chasing it like paper in the parking lot that’s been picked up by a breeze!

There you have your distressed piece of scrap ready for the punch of your choice!  Don’t be afraid to flatten it good, the crevices will remain and it will fit into your punch better if it’s not too bumpy!

There she is!  Ready for your card or scrapbook page or your creative art project!

After all the time and money many of us spending trying to remove our wrinkles it’s nice to have a use for some of them!

Enjoy yourself and stamp someone you love a card and try using this Distressed Heart!

Blessings on your week!
