Party Favors ala Stampin’ UP!

A couple of years back Stampin’ UP! paired with Build-A-Bear Workshop and introduced a great selection of stamps and Designer Series Paper.  I was practically the first one in line for the Limited Edition Bears and scarfed up two of them!  I digress…anyway I needed some party favors for a little girls birthday party and it so happens that the birthday girl LOVES Build-A-Bear.…soooo what could be more perfect?

Stampin’ UP! Pretty In Pink and Soft Suede combined with Pink Hershey Kisses does the job pretty well.

The bear image is from the Stampin’ UP! Seal of Pawthenticity Stamp Set (#118504 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog, pg 85). To make the image appear ‘girlie’ I sponged the cheeks with Pretty In Pink and added a little mod flower embellishment from the retired Sweet Pea Felt Flowers I had leftover.

It’s so easy to be creative with all the incredible images and products that Stampin’ UP! has to offer! Don’t wait for a little girl’s birthday party to make up a plate of these cute little gems…

They’ll look great on your counter or desk for family or friends to pick up and is sure to put smile on anyone’s face!

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for dropping in!

Stampin’ UP! Gift Tags

This past Saturday, you had to be a duck to enjoy the weather here in Central Texas. . .Honestly!  It has drizzled rain the entire day, alternating between light showers and a fine mist. . .and it looks as if tomorrow we are in for more of the same.

I was in the mood to create something other than a card and thought what better opportunity than to spend the day in my Stamp Room!  I was inspired to make a set of Vintage Gift Card Tags and set to work putting them together.  (Once the first set was finished, it was easy to replicate them:))

The tags measure 2″ x 4″ and are constructed on Stampin’ UP! Sahara Sand Card Stock using pieces of Stampin’ UP! Very Vanilla Card Stock, Stampin’ UP! Newsprint Designer Series Paper, and Stampin’ UP! Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper.

Stampin’ UP! Stamp Sets used are: Artistic Etchings, Charming, and Tiny Tags.

Punches used are: Scallop Circle, Jewelry Tag, Dotted Scallop Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle, 1″ Circle, 1/2″ Circle, 1/16″ Circle Handheld Punch.

As you can see there are lots of fabulous Stampin’ UP! Embellishments that have been employed, most of them are self explanatory, so I won’t belabor the point by listing them all here!

Spending an afternoon in your Stamp Room is GREAT therapy!  Especially after the hectic holiday season that’s just past.

I hope this is just  a little reminder that Stampin’ UP! is so much more than beautiful hand made cards.  All the supplies used are right at your fingertips and so easy to use, affordably priced, and  it all helps to make the creative process that much more enjoyable… . . .

If you could use some extra money, or simply would like to get a discount on your Stampin’ UP! supplies, drop me a note or give me a call and we’ll get you signed up as an Independent Demonstrator today!  I’d love the opportunity to have you on my team.  Some of my best friends and most creative inspirations come from my fellow demonstrators.  It’s a wonderful company to work for and they have lots of wonderful people developing products for them.

I hope you have enjoyed your weekend and look forward to the second half of our first month of 2011!

Blessings on your week, thank you for stopping by to catch up!

Whatever Design, Whatever Flavor, Stampin’ UP! Has Just The Touch!

It’s been a while since I was in a Shabby Chic mood, and for some reason this week, it’s been pulling at my creativity!

One of the aspects of Stampin’ UP! products that I just love, is their versatility and how easily they lend themselves to a variety of styles.

This little Shabby Bird Friend card was inspired by fellow blogger Betsy Veldman, a designer who challenges me to be more than simplistic with my creations.  It’s not often I have the time to dedicate to building this type of card, but it’s always fun and therapeutic when I do; and so worthwhile!

The Stampin’ UP! new Crochet Trim ribbons were created for just such a beautiful card like this!  It evokes memories of my great-grandmother’s house with all her crocheted doilies laying about on the tables.

What to use to make your own Shabby Bird Friend Card:

Pink Pirouette Standard 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Card Base,  Bashful Blue patterned Designer Series Paper Scrap, Whisper White Card Stock scrap, Scrap pieces of Pink Pirouette Card Stock and Certainly Celery Card Stock.

Regal Rose Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad, Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad, Bashful Blue Classic Stampin’ Ink Pad, Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Marker, Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker.

Two-Step Bird Extra Large Punch, Stampin’ UP! Sizzix Big Shot Top Note Die,  Chantilly 1/2″ Crochet Trim, Victoria 5/8″ Crochet Trim, Neutrals Designer Buttons, Miscellaneous Ecru Crochet Thread, and Sweet Pea Felt Flower & Leaves, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Great Friend Stamp Set

As Fall marches on, I hope you are enjoying a bit of a slower pace and can find some time to feed your creative urgings.  You’ll be glad you did!  Blessings on your loved ones through this weekend …Katherine

Stampin’ UP! My Digital Studio does so much more!

A week ago I delivered a copy of Stampin’ UP!’s My Digital Studio creative suite to an avid scrapbooking dear friend of mine.  I spent about an hour introducing her to it and showing her some shortcuts,  and ins and outs that I’ve picked up to help her get started and turned her loose!  I absolutely love, LOVE how easy the Stampin’ UP! My Digital Studio is and I was really excited to get to share it with her.

Sue  C. called me the NEXT DAY and left a voice message on my cell phone:  “Katherine, I’m so sorry that you’re not there to answer your phone, because if you were, you could hear the excitement in my voice.  I love this program!  It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever seen and you know I’ve used several others.  I want to get three more copies of it for my two daughters-in-law and one for Lacey too.  Please give me a call when you can.” . . . FOR REAL! I was elated!

Sue C. is like me, neither one of us would ever consider ourselves ‘computer savvy’ or computer geeks.  We like things simple and straightforward.  Fellow homeschooling moms for more years than we can count, we’re really creative gals so we get along nicely around most creative venues.  She  had gone home that afternoon and played with her program and discovered what all My Digital Studio has to offer.  Literally hundreds of stamps with the ability to re-size them,  all the fabulous color choices from the Stampin’ UP! color ensembles and the ability to match other colors to expand the color palate;  all the marvelous designer series papers, scrapbook templates, embellishments, to just click and drag into place, punches, and so, so easy to select and add pictures. . .ALL coordinating with the wonderful  Stampin’ UP!’ products.  I’m pretty sure she even said that she’d created 5 or 6   12 x 12   scrapbook pages while at it.

How wonderful I felt to, once again, “Share what you love”! It’s what we call the “WOW” factor. Stampin’ UP! may not have been the FIRST on the scene when it came to creative digital programs, but  let me tell you ladies, they certainly have the BEST! At a very modest price tag of only $79.95 it can’t be beat.

We’ve hit that mid point in summer and I hope yours is going as planned, or well,  maybe at least as good as you expected!  I’m off to Salt Lake City for the annual STAMPIN’ UP! CONVENTION week so picture me with a HUGE smile on my face most of the time!  Have a good week and keep those creative juices flowing…Katherine

Going to the Garden Party with Stampin’ UP! Punches

Stampin’ UP! is so much more than just ‘stamps’!. . . as we began our Stampers Club last night I wanted to get things off to a great start, and what better way than to introduce my friends to the wonders and ease of our Stampin’ UP! fabulous punches.

Stampin’ UP! has the best line of creative punches in the paper crafting market today in case you didn’t know.   Here’s a great example of how to put together a summer breezy Thank You card using several of my Stampin’ UP! punches:

Paired with the exclusively Stampin’ UP! Sizzix bigz daisy die from the Alphabet Simple Numbers and the Polka Dot pattern also from the exclusively Stampin’ UP! Sizzix Texturz Plate this Thank You card comes together nicely.

Punches used:  Scallop Circle, 5-Petal Flower, Boho Blossoms, and the retired Snowflake

Cardstock:  YoYo Yellow, Garden Green, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, Real Red, and a 6×6 sheet from the Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper.

Embellishments: Earth Elements Brad in More Mustard, Rhinestone Brads from Circle Fire, Corduroy Button in Pretty in Pink, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, Cutter Kit tool.

Design elements that give this Thank You Card a ‘WOW’ factor:

1.) Distressing edges of the grassy hills (which were cut freehand)  using the Stampin’ UP! Cutter Tool Kit.

2.) The breezy Thanks A Bunch banner is created by adhering the end of the banner flat against the card face and layering two Stampin’ dimensionals in the hump to support the hump.

3.) Over sized flower heads give the card a modish appearance.

4.) Use of the pok-a-dot pattern in the sky draws interest to an otherwise blank background.

5.) To customize the scallop circle and achieve the daisy appearance I first scored the scallop and then trimmed inward to 2/3 of the center.

6.)  The 5-Petal flower is double layered

7.) The Snowflake punch in the YoYo Yellow takes on a funky spikey daisy appearance with the large center.

I hope you have enjoyed visiting and remember to put your punches to work…go have some fun and create something today!
