In The Garden With Stampin’ UP!

What? you ask. . .that’s right IN THE GARDEN! Once again, I have taken advantage of networking with other Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators. If you have ever considered becoming a demonstrator, let me assure you that the Stampin’ UP! network of demonstrators continues to be an invaluable resource for my creativity!

I discovered these beautifully creative elements to add to my flower garden over on Stampin’ Connection (a private sight exclusively for Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators to share their creative projects).

The Stampin’ UP! Sizzix Big Shot is the tool to go to for this project.  Of course, the product information states proudly that you can die-cut a variety of materials with your Stampin’ UP! Sizzix Big Shot, but who’d have thought of thin pieces of aluminum roof flashing?  There must be a Super Demonstrator out there somewhere who sits around all day and dreams these things up, because this is fantastic!  They are so easy and unbelievably FUN to create.

Not only can you use the regular Stampin’ UP! Bigz XL and L die’s on this material but running it through your Stampin’ UP! Sizzix Big Shot with one of the Stampin’ UP! Embossing Folders prior to die cutting it will ‘impress’ the lovely background for your Garden Marker.

Most hardware stores will carry ALUMINUM ROOF FLASHING and the sheets I purchased were actually an angled piece that I cut the angle off of.  I was reluctant to purchase a ‘roll’ of the material because I was not convinced that the roll was as thin as the angled pieces.  ( I was able to accomplish what I wanted to with the sheets anyway!)

It’s easy to allow your creativity to soar with the many wonderful products available from Stampin’ UP! As a demonstrator you enjoy a discount on all of your purchases for Scrapbooking, Paper Crafting, Party Ideas, and so much more, plus the added benefit of inspiration from fellow Stampin’ UP! Demonstrators who are a great group of super talented gals!

I’d love to have you join me as a Stampin’ UP! Demonstrator and signing up is easy.  The Demonstrator Starter Kit is a super bargain of $300 value for only $175 and customizable to suit your tastes and needs.   Just follow the link here to sign up today!

Stampin’ UP! Summer Circle Circus

I was so happy when my pre-view catalog arrived to see that the great Stampin’ UP! Circle Circus Stamp Set is still on!

The bright tropical colors of summertime are a fantastic way to show off the lovely circle patterns in the set.

Mixing and matching  go together as sweet as a summer’s breeze.

For the card base I used the rich Stampin’ UP! Soft Suede layered with Daffodil Delight to set off the crisp Whisper White card front.  The Stampin’ UP! Circle Circus Stamp Set images are stamped using Stampin’ UP! Classic inks in Rich Razzleberry, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede.  The retired ribbon scraps lend a flirty element and hold the Stampin’ UP! Teeny Tiny Wishes ‘thank you’ sentiment nicely.

A last little touch of the sparking Stampin’ UP! Dazzling Diamonds gives the project the perfect finishing touches.  The culmination of small details employed in this project bring the card together nicely.  Thankfully, with the many coordinated Stampin’ UP! products, it’s easy to be creative!

Stampin’ UP! Sailing Away

Nothing exudes the feeling of sophisticated masculinity like great nautical images.  The Open Sea Stamp Set featured in the Stampin’ UP! 2011 Summer Mini Catalog is everything the name implies.

For our son Jack’s 32nd birthday, I selected a vivid Red, White & Black theme to send him Birthday Wishes!  I’d been playing around with The Open Sea images for a few days and came across an old slider card that had been done with the retired Stampin’ UP! Wanted Stamp Set, ( it’s a fabulous set of western inspired images).

I C.A.S.E.’d one of my own ‘old’ cards! LOL (I thought it was rather ironic myself!)

I was really excited about how the card came together and I think the three focal images work together really well.  For the inside sentiment that is written on the lower two thirds of the slider I wrote a verse about how we would always be the wind in his sails.  Quite apropos with the billowing sales in the main image of the set.’

I hope you can see that I actually singed the edges of the ship image piece for added effect.  I have done this once or twice before using lit toothpicks for added control so the singeing doesn’t get out of hand too quickly.  I scorched the”happy birthday” odd shaped sentiment as well.

A young man doesn’t have to be a mariner to appreciate a handsome nautical styled card.  When Jack called this evening, the delight in his voice was more than enough to satisfy my heart.  I love adding the little details to my projects and it’s nice when you achieve that “WOW” factor!  Stampin’ UP! makes it so much easier to get that reaction because of all the fantastic coordinated products they have available.  Seriously, this project was created in half the time it would have taken me to drive to the Mall and select a store bought card and drive home.

Elements used in the creation of this project:

Cardstock:  Basic Black, Real Red, Very Vanilla, Newsprint Designer Series Paper Map page

Classic Stampin’ Ink & Markers: Basic Black, Real Red

Extra Elements: Real Red Baker’s Twine, Stampin’ Dimmensionals, 1/4″ Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Sticky Tape, Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelet.

Great Stampin’ UP! Graduation Card

Well, here is Round 2 of my Graduation Cards for this year’s crop of grads!

I love, love the new nautical themed stamp set in the 2011 Summer Mini called The Open Sea.  On this card I paired it with the Stampin’ UP! Word Play sentiment appropriate for graduation.

The sentiment was stamped over the globe using Early Espresso and stamped a second time on Whisper White so I could cut out the arrow and raise it for focus using Stampin Dimensionals. Two additional arrows were cut out and applied with Silver Brads.

To finish off the card, I used the compass stamp from The Open Sea for an inside embellishment for a little extra fun effect!

Here’s a summary of elements used on this project:

Stampin’ UP! Stamp Sets: The Open Sea, Word Play

Stampin’ UP! Card Stock:  Certainly Celery, Early Espresso, and WhisperWhite; Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper

Stampin’ Up! Ink colors:  Baja Breeze, Early Espresso

Misc. Stampin’ UP! elements: 5/8″ Early Espresso Grosgrain Ribbon, Circle Scissor Plus, 1″ and 1 1/4″ Circle Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I found the Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, and Early Espresso a very nice combination for a masculine card like this; you should give it a try!
